The individual in question reportedly discharged a firearm at two men, hitting them and shattering the windows of the restaurant. Additionally, a woman was grazed by a bullet but declined medical assistance from the first responders.

Womans remains found in sleeping bag, suspect charged

A 55-year-old male is currently in police custody following the discovery of the body of 31-year-old Yazmeen Williams, which was located inside a sleeping bag in Kips Bay last week. The medical examiner's office has concluded that Williams suffered a gunshot wound to the head, and her death has been classified as a homicide.

Chad Irish is confronted with multiple charges, which encompass the concealment of a corpse, unlawful possession of a weapon, and menacing behavior. Authorities report that Irish allegedly threatened a 47-year-old individual who recognized him at the Strauss Houses located on East 28th Street, the site where the body of Williams was discovered.

Investigators continue to search for the murder weapon and are currently executing a search warrant at Irish's apartment, where they suspect that Williams was murdered. Williams occasionally resided with Irish, yet the specifics of their relationship remain ambiguous. Irish has been characterized as "ambulatory," indicating that he is capable of walking and, by extension, could potentially commit a murder. However, he opts to utilize a wheelchair for mobility.

Irish has a history of 21 prior arrests dating back to the early 1990s and has experienced multiple incarcerations in state prison. His most recent release was on parole following a robbery that occurred in July 2022 in the Bronx. Although Irish has not yet been charged in connection with the death of Williams, the investigation is ongoing.

The community in which the woman was discovered is in a state of outrage. On Monday evening, a large crowd surrounded Irish as he was removed from his residence on a stretcher and taken into custody. They shouted accusations of murder, hurled insults, and physically assaulted him, questioning why he would take the life of a woman who had been raised in the neighborhood and was known to have had no conflicts with anyone.

"Enough people around here were saying that they knew exactly who did it," said neighbor Ted Oehmke. "I think that they probably already didn't like him before and seeing that he did that to this girl, they are understandably enraged and I don't blame them."

Williams' family characterized her as an individual who aspired to serve as an advocate for women and to engage with the justice system in order to support victims. "She possessed beauty, kindness, and a college education; she truly was a remarkable person," remarked the victim's aunt, Nisha Ramirez.

Authorities report that the suspect escaped on foot along Mace Avenue in the direction of Bronx Park East. The last sighting of the suspect indicated they were wearing a black medical mask and a black hoodie featuring a pink logo.

The exact number of shots fired and the total number of individuals present inside the McDonald's at the time of the shooting remain uncertain.

"People's family go there with the kids and stuff like that," a neighborhood resident told a reporter. "The neighborhood is getting worse and worse."

The incident took place on Saturday morning on East 188th Street in the Fordham area. The individual affected, Auralia, a 41-year-old mother of three, sustained a severe head injury from a hammer strike. The victim reportedly informed them that the hookah was so severely damaged that she was unable to retrieve it. It was at that moment that she was struck unconscious with the hammer. Bodega owners are expressing a strong desire for enhanced security measures.  "I wouldn't wish that on no one. Very heartbreaking. There's got to be more security," one woman said.

"To the governor who offered us $5 million and we have yet to see a dime. We don't need the money tomorrow, we need the money today," said Fernando Mateo, spokesperson for the United Bodegas of America.

Auralia has been employed by the same owners for seven years; however, she transitioned to this store only a few months ago, believing that the location would offer greater safety. Orlando Robles was on duty during the incident, witnessing blood splatter across the sidewalk in front of him. "Oh it makes me feel so nervous because I've never seen something like that before. It was the first time I've ever seen that in my life. Especially here at a peaceful area," Robles said.

Upon her return, she found the plaza cordoned off, with a pool of blood staining the ground. This was a difficult revelation for someone who had resided in the city years earlier.

"I got mugged. I wasn't hurt, but I was tossed around, knocked over - then when they saw I had no money, they left me alone. But it was not the kind of weaponry where people are getting shot and stabbed like they are now," said Dumas.

The Empress continues to be hospitalized; however, she is anticipated to return home shortly and is eager to resume her life as an ordinary child. While seated on a park bench, Empress' mother observed the girls at play when the sound of gunfire erupted. The playground is located directly across the street from their residence.
