NYPD seek suspect in Bronx deli shooting of bystander

 



Authorities have unveiled photographs of the individual they suspect to be accountable for the fatal shooting that occurred within a deli in the Bronx. Stefon Barnes, aged 29, was recognized on Monday as the individual who fell victim to the shooting incident that took place at the Gourmet Deli on 851 East Tremont Ave. at approximately 4 a.m. last Sunday. Staff members at the deli recounted that Barnes, a loyal customer, had just been buying a bag of chips when he was unexpectedly wounded by a stray bullet in his thigh. The video footage captures a man wearing a ski mask attempting to search through the pockets of another individual donning a black and white jacket. The individual from Harlem was transported to the medical facility and initially had hopes of surviving the injury, however, was subsequently declared deceased. Loved ones, acquaintances, and community members have been placing candles, bouquets, and notes of support and affection for the 29-year-old at an expanding tribute outside the corner store. Another acquaintance of the victim mentioned that Barnes possessed a friendly demeanor and a great sense of humor. No individuals have been detained, however, law enforcement is seeking assistance from the community to identify the individual depicted in the surveillance footage. The investigation is currently in progress.

 


 

Man stabs 75 year old woman entering elevator


 

   A man has been apprehended by the police for allegedly trailing a 75-year-old woman into the elevator of her building and subsequently inflicting multiple stab wounds to her head. Investigators suspect that the assault was random. The incident took place at approximately 11:30 AM on Sunday morning along Morris Avenue in the Fordham area. The woman was swiftly transported to the hospital by the first responders. It is anticipated that she will recover from her injuries.

Five individuals were formally accused in federal court on Wednesday in relation to a chaotic gun battle that resulted in the deaths of two individuals at a warehouse in Mount Vernon on Tuesday, yet law enforcement is still in pursuit of additional suspects. The illegal sale of a significant quantity of marijuana and nicotine products to two individuals occurred at 137 South Fifth Ave. on Monday at approximately 10 p.m. It took the warehouse workers approximately two hours to prepare for this illicit transaction, as reported by the authorities. At approximately midnight, a pair of warehouse employees provided assistance to the customers by aiding them in transporting the boxes of merchandise to their vehicle. It was during this time that a group of 10 to 15 individuals suddenly emerged from a van and made an audacious attempt to steal the merchandise by brandishing firearms. Upon arrival at the scene at approximately 12:15 a.m., the Mount Vernon Police discovered the aftermath of a fierce exchange of gunfire between the workers and the robbers, resulting in the unfortunate loss of two lives.

Authorities have reported that Victor Jiminez, who was one of the perpetrators involved in the armed robbery, succumbed to a fatal gunshot wound to the head at the location of the incident. In contrast, the other victim, an employee working at the warehouse, was discovered beneath a shelving unit with gunshot injuries to his torso and chest. Regrettably, he was declared deceased upon arrival at a nearby medical facility.The AR-15 firearm, along with four AR spent shell casings and three spent 9mm shell casings, was found by the Mount Vernon police. A warehouse employee stated that the AR-15 belonged to the warehouse and was kept behind the register for security reasons.

The authorities successfully apprehended five individuals, namely Ilario Contreras, Jerpi Diaz-Feliz, Jhoan Diaz-Feliz, Victor Jimenez, and Joseph Perez. They were brought before the federal court in White Plains where they faced charges of murder, robbery, conspiracy to distribute narcotics, and possession of firearms. The FBI was informed by a source that the individuals were planning to steal "8 million dollars and 6 kilograms of cocaine" from the warehouse. The collaboration between the NYPD and FBI is ongoing as they continue their joint efforts to apprehend the outstanding individuals involved. Currently, there are at least five suspects who have yet to be apprehended. In order to aid their investigation, law enforcement has made public a photograph of an individual believed to be the perpetrator, potentially identified as "Marcos."
