NYPD seek suspect in Bronx deli shooting of bystander

Authorities have unveiled photographs of the individual they suspect to be accountable for the fatal shooting that occurred within a deli in the Bronx. Stefon Barnes, aged 29, was recognized on Monday as the individual who fell victim to the shooting incident that took place at the Gourmet Deli on 851 East Tremont Ave. at approximately 4 a.m. last Sunday. Staff members at the deli recounted that Barnes, a loyal customer, had just been buying a bag of chips when he was unexpectedly wounded by a stray bullet in his thigh. The video footage captures a man wearing a ski mask attempting to search through the pockets of another individual donning a black and white jacket. The individual from Harlem was transported to the medical facility and initially had hopes of surviving the injury, however, was subsequently declared deceased. Loved ones, acquaintances, and community members have been placing candles, bouquets, and notes of support and affection for the 29-year-old at an expanding tribute outside the corner store. Another acquaintance of the victim mentioned that Barnes possessed a friendly demeanor and a great sense of humor. No individuals have been detained, however, law enforcement is seeking assistance from the community to identify the individual depicted in the surveillance footage. The investigation is currently in progress.
