Neighbor kills father, son over noise dispute in Brooklyn

Police are currently searching for Jason Pass, who is suspected to be involved in the killing of two individuals in an apartment on 1418 Brooklyn Ave on Sunday evening. Pass is 47 years old and considered a person of interest in the double homicide case.On Monday, the victims were identified by their family members as Bladimy Mathurin, aged 47, and his son Chinwai Mode, aged 27. Mathurin can be seen in the surveillance video holding a pair of scissors to Pass' neck, while his wife attempts to intervene. Shortly after, gunshots are heard as Mathurin retreats to his apartment. Community leaders are of the opinion that Mathurin was attempting to safeguard his family. However, the suspect's sister, who preferred to remain anonymous, claimed that it was an act of self-defense. The incident appears to have stemmed from a long-standing dispute over noise between the neighboring parties. Pass' has made six 311 calls since March 8, 2022, regarding the noise coming from the apartment above. The apartment upstairs didn't have carpeting and it was a wood floor, so there was a lot of noise. People walking back and forth generated these calls", said a police official. The individual, identified as Pass, escaped the premises by using the elevator and was last observed heading towards the east on foot. It is worth noting that Pass has a previous record of being arrested for robbery back in 1992."Why would you bring your gun to shoot my family, why would you bring a gun to tear my family apart?" said Marie Delilles.
