NYC tourist from texas sucker punched on subway

 

A visitor from Texas was unexpectedly assaulted by an unknown individual during his family's inaugural visit to New York City. The incident occurred on June 20 at approximately 8:30 p.m. as the family awaited the train on the northbound platform at the 59th and Lexington Avenue subway station. At that moment, a stranger approached 41-year-old Veynu Narasiman and struck him in the face.

 The radiology report indicated that the victim sustained multiple fractures in the facial region, including a midline fracture located behind the nose, resulting in a total of 12 broken bones in the face.

"Still a little bit shocked about the randomness and craziness of what happened," Narasiman said.

The victim's wife, Regina Koshy, said it was their kids' first time visiting New York and they were terrified.

"I saw him and I actually yelled at him, I said 'hey, what are you doing?' He turned and he looked at me and so I got a good look at his face and then he continued walking," Koshy said.

 "He was bleeding profusely from both nostrils and he was spitting out blood and the right side of his face was all swollen," Koshy said.

There have been no arrests thus far, and the investigation remains active.

"I think that he needs mental help and I hope he doesn't do this to another person," Koshy said.

 

 

 

Bodega owner beaten with hammer in bronx

 

Residents of a Bronx community are calling for immediate action after a bodega employee was hospitalized due to a violent assault that occurred over the weekend. The incident took place on Saturday morning on East 188th Street in the Fordham area.The individual affected, Auralia, a 41-year-old mother of three, sustained a severe head injury from a hammer strike. She has been receiving medical care in the hospital since the incident. A journalist was informed that a couple, known for their previous thefts and vandalism at the store, requested a refund for a hookah valued at $30.

The victim reportedly informed them that the hookah was so severely damaged that she was unable to retrieve it. It was at that moment that she was struck unconscious with the hammer. Bodega owners are expressing a strong desire for enhanced security measures. They assert that there is technology available for a panic button that not only summons assistance but also enables the police to view the store's surveillance cameras in real time.

 "I wouldn't wish that on no one. Very heartbreaking. There's got to be more security," one woman said.

 "To the governor who offered us $5 million and we have yet to see a dime. We don't need the money tomorrow, we need the money today," said Fernando Mateo, spokesperson for the United Bodegas of America.

Auralia has been employed by the same owners for seven years; however, she transitioned to this store only a few months ago, believing that the location would offer greater safety. Currently, all employees at this establishment are experiencing heightened anxiety due to the lack of arrests, raising concerns that the couple may return, potentially armed with additional weapons.
